A hand-knotted Scandinavian wool rug from the mid 20th century. This is a Rya style rug, with a cozy pile, finished with kilim borders at the short ends. It bears the weavers initials at a corner.
The design is tributary to Scandinavia’s idyllic landscapes, in this case to the undulating fjords created by glaciers and the rapid rivers of Northern Europe. The color palette is fitting the design: blues, greys, and ivory.
Excellent original condition, consistent with age.
